I used many of these methods when I was training my horses.  Whether you're a serious dressage fan/rider or simply ride for pleasure, these books give you great advice.

My beautiful Juliette was a dream to ride because of how balanced she was . . . unlike some horses who have all their weight on the front.  Juliette taught me to be a better rider because of how willing she was to learn.   When she died, I lost some interest in continuing with this so am willing to pass this wonderful library to another horse lover.

Every book is like new . . . no damage and no markings.  They would make wonderful gifts for any horse lover.

1.  COMMON SENSE DRESSAGE by Sally O'Connor

"Over 200 photos & illustrations combined with the author's instructive text make for one of the most useful books on dressage ever offered. Sound, practical advice is presented on the progressive training of the horse.
Originally published in 1990, this excellent work is now available in paperback.
For less than the cost of one riding lesson, this may be the most dog-eared book on your riding bookshelf!"

This is the hardback version that lists at $26.40 on Amazon . . . the paperback version lists for $169 !

2.  TRAINING STRATEGIES FOR DRESSAGE RIDERS by Charles de Kunffy

Hardcover with jacket intact.

3.  THE PRINCIPLES OF RIDING  . . . The Official Instruction Handbook of the German National Equestrian Federation.  (hardcover)

"Based on the principles of classical horsemanship, the German training method is clear, logical and thorough.  It ensures that the horse receives a training that is both fair and appropriate to his equine nature, and enables the rider to enjoy and understand his sport and to practice it safely."

4.  DRESSAGE IN HARMONY  . . . From Basic to Grand Prix  by Walter Zettl (hardback)

"My approach in teaching and training, as well as in this, is that of complete sympathy for the horse and devotion to its happiness ad well being..  In the book I attempt to educate riders to make their horses happy, confident and proud to work for them.  Force and battling have no place in my training method." (Walter Zettle)

5.  YOGA FOR EQUESTRIANS by Linda Benedik and Veronica Wirth  (paperback)

"The postures and exercises in this book are invaluable for anyone who struggles to acquire the classical alignment.  They are also helpful for those of us who need to maintain flexibility, and improve breathing, body awareness and focus . . .  "
